John Mangan
Finance Director
Name: John Mangan
Age: 55
Marital status
Married to Ann for 19 years with 2 children. Joe, who
is 18 and curently studying at university, and Olivia,
16.
Interests
Love watching all sports in particular football, rugby
and cricket. Still played football until about a year
ago but both knees are now arthritic (12 years of amateur
football). A season ticket holder at the Baggies and follow
the England football team home and away. Would love to do the
same with Rugby and Cricket but I think it would end up in
divorce. I was extremely lucky to have gone to South Africa
for the World Cup 2010.
Education
Went to a good grammar school but came away with just a couple
of O levels (GCSEs). In those days parents didn't tend to
push you along the academic route in the same way as we parents do
now.
Other activities
Music is a real pleasure for me. I dont tend to buy as
much as I used to but have in the region of 2,000 albums on CD,
vinyl and tape. I will get them all on the computer one
day.
I don't read as much as I would like to but have a collection of
books which tend to be the classics, history and biographies.
I will get round to reading them one day. My favourite book
though is fiction "Catch 22". I must have read it at
least 20 times.
Also I have been extremely lucky in that both children are very
good at sport, and I have always gone to watch them play football,
cricket, rugby and even netball (although I struggle with the
rules). I always find it amazing when parents don't stay to
watch their children play sport.
Travel is another great pleasure and some of the venues of
England matches take you to places you would never normally
go. With the children becoming more self sufficient it will
be good to get away with Ann to all the places we have planned on
visiting but being parents has prevented.
Past:
Spent 3 years studying law with a local solicitors with the idea
of taking the long route into becoming qualified but the idea of
working (in Benidorm and Majorca) seemed more interesting.
In between working away, I always kept in touch with Des at DJ
Ponsonbys and was involved in the growth. We all learned a
hell of a lot (particularly when things were not good).
Present:
CSL is growing in all the right directions. We have a
solid customer base and an infrastructure to handle future
growth. The 4 directors are not only great colleagues but
also very good friends.
The Future:
We are installing a management system that will enable us to
handle all future growth without the necessity of grand scale
recruitment. We would like to make Corporate Solutions a
byword in "flexible managed solutions".
