In 1967 Denis Ponsonby launched DJ Ponsonby & Sons Ltd with a small van and an entrepreneurial spirit. Initially catering for home and commercial removals, through the 1970s the business branched out to become a provider of general transportation services.
In the early 1980s, two of Denis’ sons, Des and Paul, along with cousin, John Mangan, started to expand the business; moving into articulated haulage. Sustainable growth followed as a result of a focus on developing professional highly skilled drivers, high quality equipment and ambitious Health & Safety standards.
The business provided premium transport and storage services to numerous blue chip customers including Cadburys, Mars, BP, Gillette, Vax and Allied Breweries. By this time, Brian Croghan and Mark Ponsonby were now fully involved in developing the family business.
The 1990s saw expansion, with four UK operating centres and forays into parcel and palletised distribution. Through a passion in providing an excellent customer experience the striking Ponsonby kit began to be adorned with a butterfly. Still proudly displayed on the Corporate Solutions livery it symbolises a commitment to ensuring we care for every box, parcel, pallet, or reel of paper we move for our customers.
In 1997, following Paul’s move into specialised distribution, Des, John, Mark and Brian formed Corporate Solutions Logistics to provide high quality contract logistics services. A passionate belief in providing an excellent service and developing operations has led to long term relationships with a number of clients.
With a thorough understanding of our customers’ business, and investment in effective technology; 2015 saw Corporate Solutions Logistics fulfil 110,000 deliveries, travelling 11.5 million miles with less than 2% empty running. Our goal is to focus on increasing service levels whilst reducing our customers’ distribution cost.
