Des Ponsonby

Managing Director

A passionate advocate for sustainability and road safety, Des has a near encyclopaedic knowledge of the Road Haulage industry. As Managing Director, he is focussed on using this expertise to build transport solutions for customers that increase service and reduce cost.

A specialist in the distribution of Paper and Packaging and FMCG with approaching 50 years’ experience; Des is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. He began his career in 1969 as a delivery driver for his father’s removals company, D J Ponsonby. As the business grew into a general haulier and warehousing provider, he progressed from HGV driver to Transport Office Manager, to Managing Director.

With wife Hilary, 4 children and 7 grandchildren, family life is rarely quiet; however, Des is an avid Birmingham City and England fan as well as finding the time to manage his own football team. Des is deeply interested in history with a particular focus on the Alamo and the Titanic. If you have a spare day to discuss, his love of cricket is matched by his in-depth knowledge of player, batting averages and anything ‘Ashes’.


Mark Ponsonby

Sales Director

A fanatical truck enthusiast, Mark lives and breathes the industry; bringing a vast wealth of operational knowledge and experience to his role of Sales Director. He is focussed on offering customers cost effective solutions that fit seamlessly with their operations and that drive improvement.

Mark entered the industry at 21, working as a HGV driver for his father’s company, D J Ponsonby. Mark loved truck driving, feeding a lifelong passion for the industry. Mark progressed from driver to Operations Management in 1994, becoming Operations Director at Corporate Solutions from 1997-2012 before moving into his role as Sales Director. Mark believes in building strong working relationships with customers and working together to offering bespoke solutions that add value.

Mark, married to Helena, has two sons; James and Denis, the elder of the two also shares his love of lorries and industrial estates. A Birmingham City season ticket holder, Mark has followed the team the length and breadth of the country. A passionate advocate of Birmingham, Mark takes a great interest in the development and growth of the City.


John Mangan

Finance Director

As Finance Director, John is focussed on managing the sustained growth of Corporate Solutions Logistics. Through rigorous financial control and a belief in the use of technology to aide efficiency, growth has been achieved alongside continuous operational improvement. A finance specialist with a deep knowledge and understanding of the logistics industry; John began his career studying law before travelling widely. Following several years working abroad, and then in Sales and Finance, John moved into the family business. Following finance and sales positions at DJ Ponsonby, John took on the role at Corporate Solutions Logistics when the business was formed in 1997.

John has been married to Ann for over 20 years and they have two children and two grandchildren. An avid follower of West Bromwich Albion and the England football team; he also enjoys watching cricket and rugby. A love of travel has endured, with recent adventures in Brazil, Australia and South Africa amongst others.


Brian Croghan

Operations Director

With a keen eye for detail and operational efficiency, Brian has a wealth of experience gathered through Distribution, Warehousing and Sales positions. As Operations Director he is focussed on ensuring that our contracts are closely controlled and managed, and fulfil the commitments we make to customers in the logistics solutions built.

Brian entered the industry working as a HGV driver in the US and UK after travelling widely. He then held a variety of positions within the DJ Ponsonby business in both Sales and Operations management. In 1997 he took on the role as Sales Director at Corporate Solutions; successfully aiding the organisations growth, prior to taking an operational role in 2005 on our Smurfit Kappa contract. Following the implementation of an innovative warehousing solution in three Irish locations, he now manages the entire UK and Ireland operation.

Brian has been a lifelong friend of John, Des and Mark. A passionate West Bromwich Albion and Celtic fan he also played in and managed a local team for many years. He has a forensic interest in football tactics, approach and players. Brian enjoys travel and visits rural Ireland regularly.
